Anglers are the kind of enemy that make you grumble while you're reloading, then smile when you see what they drop. Where They Actually Show Up
The Mire is still the main stage, but you don't have to chase spawns blindly. Start at Crevasse Dam and do a slow sweep along the waterline first, then the soggy edges just off the road. You'll often catch a small pack there before anything else notices you. After that, slide down toward Dyer Chemical, but don't get distracted by the front entrance. Circle behind the building and work the shoreline; that's where they like to sit, half-hidden, like they're waiting to ruin your day. You might bump into Gulpers or Mirelurks in the mix, so keep your ears open and don't stand still.
A Quiet Alternative For Solo Runs
If the popular spots are busy, Highland Marsh is the chill option. It's out of the way, it's miserable to look at, and that's exactly why it works. Follow the flooded paths near the wrecked boats and you'll usually spot one tucked into the fog, sometimes more if the server's feeling generous. It's also a good place to farm without someone sprinting in and tagging everything. You can take your time, loot properly, and leave without that "was that my kill?" annoyance.
Fighting Them Without Wasting A Whole Mag
The fire spit is what turns a simple farm into a mess. If you've got Fireproof, use it. If you can slot Asbestos Lining, even better. I like an automatic rifle for steady damage, or a shotgun if I'm confident I can end it fast. Don't just hose the body—aim at the head or the glowing lure and you'll feel the difference right away. If you're running melee, it's doable, but you're gonna be chugging Stimpaks and dancing around their range like it's a bad boss mechanic.
Fast Loop And Clean Inventory
Keep it simple: Dam first, then Dyer's back shore, then check the rivers as you move toward the Treehouse Village area, and server hop once the route's dry. It's a short loop, and once you've done it a few times you'll know the usual "they're here" corners by instinct. Cook the Angler meat before you wander off, scrap everything, and don't let junk pile up until you're crawling.
